Your Opportunity: Reporting to the Manager of the Eye Clinic, this position is one of a group of Administrative Support III staff that provide comprehensive support to the daily clinical activity. The incumbent will work collaboratively with a team of ophthalmologists, residents, ophthalmic personnel, nurses, medical students, and community offices to ensure that patients are seen in a timely and efficient manner. Duties include but will not be limited to greeting patients, verifying patient information in the electronic medical record, advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex scheduling of procedures, diagnostic testing and clinic appointments and ensuring patient charts are complete. Description: As an Administrative Support III, you will require advanced administrative or specialized skills and knowledge to support complex procedures, practices and initiatives within a department or program. Classification: Administrative Support III Union: AUPE GSS Unit and Program: Eye Institute of Alberta Primary Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 1.00 Posting End Date: 01-SEP-2026 Temporary Employee Class: Temporary Full Time Date Available: 11-SEP-2026 Temporary End Date: 26-FEB-2027 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 8 Shifts per cycle: 40 Shift Pattern: Days Days Off: Saturday/Sunday Minimum Salary: $25.72 Maximum Salary: $31.25 Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications: A post-secondary certificate in Medical Office Administration or equivalent required. Completion of Medical Terminology course is required and demonstrated through a written test. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel required. Adaptable and team-oriented with a strong customer service focus. Ability to function effectively in a highly dynamic environment, including working under pressure, and responding to change. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Able to work all shifts as operationally required while proving reliability and dependability. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A strong commitment to providing Patient and Family Centered Care is essential for this position. The incumbent requires a calm and patient demeaner. Must be physically able to carry out the duties of the position. Physical demands include long periods of sitting/standing, walking, pushing and pulling (patient movement, pushing a wheelchair and/or move diagnostic equipment) and transporting of supplies/charts. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with eClinician/Connect Care and NetCare is preferred. Previous ophthalmology experience in a tertiary care setting is preferred. Requirements
Requires a high school diploma and a post-secondary certificate in Medical Office Administration along with a completed Medical Terminology course. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to handle physical demands of a clinical environment are essential.
