Role : Administrative Assistant – Intermediate Location: Edmonton, AB — Onsite Work Location: 10405 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton Contract: 6 months + possible 6-month extension Hours: 36.25 hours/week | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM Alberta Time We are looking for an experienced Administrative Assistant / Appeals Assistant to support the Appeals Commission in Edmonton. Key Responsibilities Provide administrative and operational support to Appeals Officers, Hearing Chairs, Vice Chairs, and Commissioners. Coordinate pre-hearing administration and hearing-day activities. Prepare correspondence and create document indexes for appeal document packages. Coordinate teleconference/video conference information and assist parties with hearing participation. Attend and record hearings while troubleshooting process or technical issues. Respond to inquiries and provide support during sensitive or challenging situations. Maintain accurate appeal statuses and timelines in ACES. Format, proofread, and prepare hearing decisions for publication and distribution. Ensure documents follow approved style guides and decision-format protocols. Support accurate records, documentation, and reporting. Mandatory Qualifications 2+ years of relevant administrative experience. 2+ years using Microsoft Office Suite. 2+ years working in a fast-paced environment, independently and within a team. 2+ years in a role similar to Administrative/Appeals Assistant. 2+ years working with clients/stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze requirements. High School Diploma/GED. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and prioritization skills. Strong attention to detail. Post-secondary education in Office Administration. Experience with Information Governance / Records Management. Knowledge of information management, privacy, and security requirements, including ATIA/POPA. Experience working with Government of Alberta, 1GX, or a comparable Canadian public-sector ERP environment. Experience with workers' compensation/WCB systems.

Requirements

Requires at least two years of relevant administrative or appeals-assistant experience, Microsoft Office experience, and experience working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with clients or stakeholders. A high school diploma or GED and post-secondary education in Office Administration are listed, along with strong communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills; records management, privacy requirements, public-sector ERP systems, and workers' compensation systems experience are also sought.
