Job summary

The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba. The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Administrative Assistant position within our Early Learning and Child Care Department located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive administrative, financial, and communications support to the Early Learning and Child Care (ELCC) Department. This position support departmental leadership and staff by coordinating administrative processes, maintaining records, managing correspondence, scheduling meetings, and assisting with financial and operational tasks. Job Duties/Competencies: * Provide administrative support to ELCC leadership and team members; * Draft, type, proofread, and format correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other documents; * Receive clients and visitor; answer, screen, and route incoming calls; determine urgency and respond to general inquiries; * Maintain accurate hard-copy and electronic filing systems; archive and organize records as required; * Coordinate incoming and outgoing correspondence, mail, and information flow with internal and external stakeholders; * Schedule meetings and appointments; maintain calendars; prepare and distribute draft agendas and meeting materials. Skills and Qualifications: * Relevant education in the field of Administrative Assistant or related fields; * Minimum two year’s experience in an administrative support services position with excellent communication skills including experience in drafting correspondence and preparing reports; * Experience in a computerized office environment with proven ability with Microsoft Office Suites; * Extensive experience maintaining confidential records, data entry, and accurate arithmetic calculations; * Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills; * Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset; * Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and, * Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
