Whitefish River First Nation EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY ACCOUNTS PAYABLE CLERK Employment Type: Full-time Indeterminate Department: Finance Hours: 35 hours per week Salary Range: $46,361 – 55,660 annually (Depending on education and experience) + Pension and Benefits The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing accounts payable transactions and maintaining accurate financial records. This role ensures expenditures are properly authorized, recorded, and aligned with budgets, policies, and funding requirements of Whitefish River First Nation. The right candidate will have strong attention to detail, customers service skills and work collaboratively as part of the Whitefish River First Nation Finance team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Receive, review, and process vendor invoices for payment. Verify coding, approvals, and supporting documentation in accordance with policies. Prepare and process payments (cheques, EFTs, electronic payments). Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger. Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies. Assist departments with purchase order processes and invoice submissions. Monitor outstanding payables and ensure timely payments. Support month-end and year-end closing processes. QUALIFICATIONS: Post-secondary education in accounting, business administration, or related field No prior accounts payable experience is required; however, previous accounts payable or bookkeeping experience is considered an asset. New graduates are encouraged to apply. Experience working with accounting software. Experience in a First Nation or public sector environment is an asset. SKILLS: Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational and record-keeping skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
