Position Overview The Administrative Assistant is responsible for performing general administrative and clerical duties for the designated program or department. The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud. Experience Minimum two (2) years of previous clerical experience required. Experience in health care, emergency preparedness or law enforcement environment preferred. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of a recognized administrative/secretarial program preferred, or a suitable combination of education and experience. Certification/Licensure/Registration Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000. Qualifications And Skills Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities. Ability to work with a variety of sensitive information and to maintain confidentiality. Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required. Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions. Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums. Good work and attendance record. Demonstrated ability using Microsoft Office including; Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook, Teams, etc. required. Physical Requirements Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job. No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions. May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary. Will be required to travel to other regional facilities as the position duties may require. This term position may end earlier as outlined in your collective agreement. Requirements

Requires Grade 12 or equivalent, at least two years of clerical experience, a valid Class 5 driver's license, an insured vehicle, and at least $1,000,000 in liability insurance. A recognized administrative or secretarial program and experience in health care, emergency preparedness, or law enforcement are preferred; strong communication, organizational, confidentiality, and Microsoft Office skills are also required.
