Job Description RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Position summary Reporting to the Receiving and Distribution Supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for receiving, verifying, sorting, temporarily storing, internally distributing and safely transporting packages destined for the laboratories and services of the RI-MUHC. Many of these packages are temperature-sensitive, regulated or mission-critical to research, maintaining the cold chain and the chain of custody is central to the role. The incumbent also handles the receipt and distribution of compressed gas cylinders and dry ice. As a secondary duty, they contribute to inventory tracking, a function expected to grow over time General Duties Receive, verify, sort and log packages at the receiving dock, Prioritize perishable packages (refrigerated, frozen, cryogenic) and maintain the cold chain until delivery, Deliver packages to laboratories, smart lockers and designated points, and manage uncollected packages, Safely receive, inspect, store and distribute compressed gas cylinders and dry ice, Log package movements in tracking systems (barcode scanners, RFID) and maintain documented traceability, Communicate courteously and professionally with the research community and notify users when packages are available, Contribute, as a secondary duty, to inventory tracking and counts (evolving function), Follow hygiene, health and safety standards and keep work areas clean and orderly.
