Demonstrated organizational skills, and the ability to work independently Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills Demonstrated flexibility to facilitate changes in techniques and procedures in a changing environment Demonstrated knowledge and competence of skills and concepts related to the position Demonstrated communication skills Ability to respect and promote confidentiality Ability to perform the duties of the position on a regular basis Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population Ability to work effectively and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, clients and within interdisciplinary team Position Summary Responsible to the Manager or designate, and in consultation with the Medical Clinic healthcare providers, the Medical Clinic Receptionist functions as an essential part of the health care team. The Medical Clinic Receptionist performs and coordinates office/reception related activies for the Medical Clinic within the framework provided by the Prairie Mountain Health Region’s Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures, and in accordance with applicable legislation and standards. Responsibilities Overview: Provides prompt, courteous reception for the Medical Clinic including answering the telephone, screening and directing calls, and receiving/directing patients. Acts as a liaison for information between the Medical Clinic and other services within the facility. Schedules patient Medical Clinic appointments in a timely manner, suitable to the patient and physician. Arranges for referrals to other services and submits referral information as appropriate. Sets up and maintains patient data files. Verifies client personal information, including personal health information and insuring agency (if applicable) with client file on each client visit. Manages and maintains electronic and/or paper files for the Medical Clinic. Transcribes dictation and prepares correspondence, minutes, and reports as required. Gathers information and prepares routine and periodic reports in accordance with established schedules. Prepares and dispatches mail, photocopying, and faxing as required. Prepares and maintains statistical records in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Prairie Mountain Health Region. Provides assistance to physicians for specific procedures as necessary. Prepares and submits documentation for Manitoba Health physician services billing including third party billing. Forwards all requests for personal heath information to designated privacy officer and in accordance with the Prairie Mountain Health Region. Other duties as assigned.
