Duties And Responsibilities Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, the Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for supporting revenue optimization by reviewing inpatient and outpatient accounts to ensure all required billing information is complete and accurate. The role performs day-to-day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, calculating, posting, and recording accounts receivable data. The Accounts Receivable Clerk ensures signed accommodation forms are obtained and, in coordination with nursing staff on inpatient units, supports patient transfers to requested accommodations to help maximize preferred accommodation revenue. The Accounts Receivable Clerk facilitates invoice payments by issuing billing reminders, contacting patients/residents, and ensuring appropriate follow-up on claims and rejections. The role is also responsible for reconciling the aged trial balance to ensure payments, charges, and invoices are properly accounted for and posted; processing incoming payments from patients/residents, insurance agencies, and other sources in accordance with financial policies and procedures; and preparing daily bank deposits and reconciliations. The Accounts Receivable Clerk is expected to exercise initiative, maintain strict confidentiality, and perform other related duties as assigned. Inter-site travel may be required. Qualifications Community College General Business Accounting Diploma or equivalent; Two years of recent accounts receivable experience required; Demonstrated understanding of accounts receivable activities, including the receivables and collections process; Demonstrated experience processing payments and balancing payment reconciliation reports; Previous accounting experience in a healthcare environment is preferred; Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel (tested), Epic, Quickbooks and Point Click Care billing systems, and accurate keyboarding skills of 35 w.p.m. (tested); Working knowledge of basic bookkeeping, common finance terminology, and related procedures; Demonstrated ability to prioritize a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, and perform a broad range of clerical duties as required; Demonstrated ability to foster positive public relations and effective working relationships; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with tact, diplomacy, sound judgment, and empathy when working with clients, families, staff, and external agencies; Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills; Ability to exercise sound judgment when gathering and compiling information and facts; Demonstrated ability to work independently with frequent interruptions, and flexibility to adapt within a changing healthcare environment; Demonstrated organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; Satisfactory performance record required; Demonstrated commitment to Lakeridge Health’s core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork, and Joy; Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health’s comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety, and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
