This is a full-time on-site position with hours of work are from 8:30 PM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday (flexible schedule).

Position Summary: Reporting to the HR Manager, The Health & Safety Coordinator provides administrative and operational support for health and safety activities within a food manufacturing facility. This role assists in maintaining compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and internal policies by coordinating training, maintaining documentation, and supporting inspections and incident tracking.

This position works closely with leadership and employees to promote a safe work environment, while primarily supporting established programs rather than leading them.

Duties And Responsibilities

Program Support & Administration

Assist in maintaining health & safety policies, procedures, and records Track safety metrics, training records, inspections, and incident reports Ensure documentation is up to date and audit-ready Support compliance with applicable health & safety legislation (e.g., OHSA) Point of Contact for all health & safety related items

Training Coordination

Schedule and track mandatory safety training (e.g., WHMIS, PPE, orientations) Support new hire safety onboarding Assist with preparing training materials and sign-off records

Workplace Inspections

Participate in routine workplace inspections and hazard identification Document findings and track corrective actions to completion Report concerns to supervisors or management as appropriate

Incident Reporting Support

Assist with documenting incidents, near misses, and first aid cases Support investigations by gathering basic information and completing reports Maintain incident logs and statistics

Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC)

Coordinate JHSC meetings (scheduling, agendas, minutes, meetings) Track action items and ensure follow-up completion Assist with required inspections and documentation

Audit & Compliance Support

Maintain organized records for compliance purposes

General Support

Promote basic safety awareness on the production floor Provide administrative support to the Health & Safety function & other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Strong attention to detail and evaluation skills, with a focused and diligent approach. 1-3 years of experience in Health & Safety or food manufacturing. CRSP designation considered an asset. Post-secondary education in Health & Safety, or a related discipline is considered a strong asset. Experience with Claims Management is an asset. First Aid/CPR certification is an asset. Basic understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Regulations. Intermediate computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) are an asset. Strong oral and written communication skills. Comfortable working in a cool (2-4°C) production floor & office environment. Enthusiastic self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to multitask and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
