About the role

Position: Administrator for Suzuki Music/Musique Canada Applications are due August 15 2026. Additional paid time up to 40 hours of work will be required to support our 2027 National Conference. Requirements ● Post-secondary Degree Preferences ● Post-secondary degree and a Certificate in Arts Administration, or a post-secondary degree in Arts Administration ● Experience in the field of Arts Administration ● Experience in the non-profit or charitable sector ● Ability to communicate effectively in English and French Required skills (if you meet most of these requirements but not all, please apply). ● Knowledge of non-profit good governance practices, board structure and board functions ● Ability to give Board guidance on governance and setup of committees and events ● Ability to manage employees or contract workers for SMMC special projects ● Strong organizational skills: ability to develop effective work plans, organize details, set priorities and meet deadlines ● Effective time management skills ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills ● Ability to work independently and maintain efficiency while working remotely ● Financial report and spreadsheet creation ● Assist in webpage management ● Technical Skills in managing payment processing and membership management software. ● Effective grant research and grant writing ● Effective promotional and fundraising skills Expectations ● Serve as the first point of contact for SMMC; handle intake and response to inquiries; forward information to appropriate Board members as needed ● Update financial records and submit monthly financial reports in coordination with the Treasurer ● Assist in webpage updates in coordination with the website committee; help keep the website current and updated ● Gain familiarity with specific payment processing and membership management software, inputting and extracting information as needed ● Attend board meetings as needed ● Assist in event planning and organization ● Manage SMMC social media accounts ● Offer Board guidance on governance and setup of committees ● Facilitate communication with the SMMC Board and committees ● Identify possible funding opportunities and follow up after board consultation ● Research grant opportunities and prepare grant applications ● Be available for extra paid hours when needed to help organize national events

Assets–not required but valuable ● Familiarity with the Suzuki Method and the Suzuki repertoire ● Familiarity with musical events such as conferences, institutes, and workshops ● Experience organizing large events ● Artistic website design abilities
