Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00AM - 4:00PM
Pay: $36,000

Position Summary
The Counter Clerk provides front-line customer service and administrative support for the Controller’s Office. This position is responsible for issuing licenses and permits, processing payments, maintaining office records, and assisting with accounts payable functions. The Counter Clerk serves as the first point of contact for visitors and callers, ensuring efficient service and accurate handling of office transactions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Issue all licenses and permits in accordance with City policies and procedures. Greet and assist walk-in customers; answer and route incoming telephone calls. Record and process counter receipts and reconcile the cash drawer daily. Provide support for accounts payable duties as needed. Maintain the office vault and ensure proper handling of secure documents. Prepare and type correspondence, letters, and memorandums. Sort, distribute, and process incoming mail and faxes. Maintain and monitor office equipment to ensure proper function. Track and order department office supplies. Perform general clerical support and assist city staff and the public as needed. Respond to citizen 311 service requests, document concerns, and route inquiries to the appropriate City department for timely resolution. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements & Skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments. Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others. Ability to solve problems and provide accurate information to customers. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to operate standard office equipment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. High attention to detail and accuracy.
Physical Effort & Work Environment
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Ability to sit for extended periods. Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and office equipment. Ability to see and hear within normal parameters. Ability to extend hands and arms to perform routine office tasks.
