Role Description The Proposal Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. This position is responsible for coordinating and developing high-quality proposals, qualifications packages, and bid submissions that align with Bird Construction’s brand, standards, and strategic objectives. Day-to-day tasks include gathering input from subject matter experts, drafting and formatting proposal content, organizing supporting documentation, and ensuring compliance with client requirements and submission deadlines. The Proposal Specialist collaborates closely with business development, estimating, and project teams to tailor responses, highlight project experience, and present compelling value propositions. The role also involves maintaining proposal libraries and templates, tracking opportunities, and contributing to continuous improvement of proposal processes and tools. Qualifications Strong proposal and technical writing skills, including the ability to create clear, concise, and persuasive content tailored to different audiences. Experience in proposal coordination and management, including organizing inputs, managing timelines, and ensuring compliant, on-time submissions. Proficiency with document design and formatting tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, PDF editing software) and attention to detail in layout and presentation. Solid research and information-gathering abilities to understand client requirements, project details, and relevant company experience. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams, including business development, estimating, and project operations. Strong organizational and time management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent proposals and shifting priorities. Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, business, engineering, construction management, or a related field is an asset. Experience in the construction or engineering industry, and familiarity with Canadian procurement processes and RFQ/RFP structures, is considered an advantage.
