The role coordinates and supports high-profile initiatives, including Trade Team Alberta and the Alberta Trade Speaker Series, fostering alignment on trade priorities, market intelligence, and export development strategies.Through these platforms, the Senior Trade Advisor helps strengthen Alberta’s trade ecosystem, advance coordinated trade promotion efforts, and support Alberta businesses in expanding into international markets.In this role, you will:

Build and maintain strategic relationships with government, industry, and trade ecosystem partners. Support trade-related policy and program initiatives through research, analysis, and coordination. Lead project and event coordination while supporting branch operations and business priorities. Plan and coordinate large-scale, cross-ministry initiatives led by the Ministry of Jobs, Economy, Trade and Immigration (JETI). Prepare and coordinate briefings, information requests, action requests, and executive correspondence for senior leadership.

University graduation in a related field (business, economics, international trade, political science, public policy or public administration) plus 4 years of related experience or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Relevant knowledge, skills or experiences include:

Strong knowledge of international trade, export development, economic development, and emerging federal, provincial, and global issues. Experience providing strategic advice, options analysis, briefings, reports, and presentations to senior leaders. Strong project management skills, with experience leading complex initiatives and supporting policy or program development. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships across government, industry, and non-government organizations. Event planning, organizing and hosting experience for diplomatic and business events. Experience conducting research, environmental scans, and economic or statistical analysis to inform decision-making. Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship management skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment while managing multiple priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint). Ability to travel within Alberta as required.
