Position Overview Directly accountable to the Manager, Recreation and Volunteer Services, the Volunteer Services Clerk/Typist Receptionist provides typing, clerical and receptionist support for Volunteer Services and Recreation Services. Duties include routine typing, filing, photocopying and reception tasks.
Performs all duties in accordance with established health and safety regulations/guidelines, policies and procedures (e.g. utilizing personal, protective equipment as per safe work procedures). Notifies their Manager or their designates (i.e. supervisors) of all occurrences, injuries illnesses or safety and health concerns which are likely to harm themselves, their co· workers, or any others who enter the premises. Experience A minimum of one year's experience performing general clerical/office duties, preferably in a health care setting. Minimum of one year's experience in a position dealing directly with the public. Experience in typing a variety of material. Experience in the utilization of personal computers in the performance of secretarial duties. Experience working with or for a volunteer organization.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Successful completion of secondary school education with formal training in keyboarding, clerical functions and basic stenographic skills. Successful completion of a word processing course and/or comparable experience or on the-job training.

Possession of effective public relations skills.
Proficiency in the use of grammar, spelling and punctuation in the English language.
Tact , reliability, tolerance, empathy and adaptability when dealing with the public, volunteers ,staff, patients and residents.
Typing speed of a least 65 wpm with not more than a 5% error rate.
Physical Requirements May be required to work extended hours. May encounter aggressive and/or agitated patients/residents/staff/visitors.
This Indefinite Term may expire subject to one (1) weeks’ notice. This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
