We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated RAP Overnight Awake Shift Worker who will demonstrate our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness, and empowerment to our clients, families, and each other. PURPOSE The awake shift will serve as the front-line staff for the Wesley Reception Centre for the Resettlement Assistance Program. In a Reception Centre setting, the Resettlement awake shift oversees the provision of temporary accommodation upon arrival for Government Assisted Refugees (GARs). It supports the first steps in the integration process of newcomers and their families. Staff have meaningful interactions with GARs, ensuring that they are in a safe and healthy environment and proactively participating in the growth and development of the program and its initiatives. This a unionized, contract part-time role, ending January 31, 2027, with guaranteed 15 hours of work per week at an hourly wage of $24.65.

Key Responsibilities:

To carry out any reasonable duties as required. To keep all information relating to clients, staff, and service users confidential in accordance with Wesley’s confidentiality policy. To collect document copies, scan and save them in the RAP folder To respond to GAR clients’ needs, aiding and providing resources when necessary To provide support to GARs in a reception Centre setting. To assign and prepare rooms for clients arriving from the airport. To provide information to GARs about rules and regulations of the Reception Centre for clients arriving late to the Reception Centre from the airport. To create and maintain a welcoming and safe housing environment with around-the-clock service. To work in integration with other Wesley programs to ensure efficiencies are realized through evidence-based practices. To develop a semi-annual work plan and activities and submit reports as required. What you will bring: Post-secondary education at a College Diploma level or higher, including studies pertinent to settlement, social services, adult education, community health, and migration issues or relevant experience of at least 2 years working with refugees/immigrants. At least three years of relevant practical experience working with newcomer families is required. Advanced computer skills required in the following programs: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook; Adobe; and any database program. Excellent communication, organization, and coordination skills. Proven ability to demonstrate Wesley’s mission, vision, and values. Fluency in Arabic, Amharic, Turkish, Somali, or Dari (verbal and written) is required. Available to work flexible/irregular hours, including evenings and weekends. A Valid Driver’s License with access to a vehicle would be an asset. Non-violent crisis intervention and first aid/CPR training is required.
