About the role
The Role
Reporting to the Supervisor, Aquatics, the Assistant Supervisor, Recreation Programs Aquatics, is responsible for the development of the master scheduling of aquatic programs. This position is the point of contact and liaison for aquatic programs participants, rentals, and volunteer groups. The Assistant Supervisor, Aquatics, provides support and recommendations to the Supervisor on administrative, customer services improvements and supports aquatic staff teams in the delivery of services.
To qualify, you'll need...
2 year post-secondary in business administration, recreation studies or equivalent
Two (2) years’ experience working in an administration and recreation environment, predominately in software programs; including experience with scheduling and liaising with community groups, facilitating user group meetings and with sporting events
Required Certifications include:
o Standard First Aid/CPR-C from one of the following agencies: Lifesaving Society, Red Cross, St. John Ambulance or Canadian Ski Patrol
o National Lifeguard Award
o Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor and Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor certifications
Preferred Certifications include:
o Aquatic Supervisory Training or Aquatic Management Training
o NL Instructor, and Lifesaving Society First Aid Instructor, Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer, Bronze Cross Examiner and Lifesaving Society Advanced Instructor certifications
o Professional accreditation and or training in aquatic fitness and aquatic post rehabilitation, older adult programming or related services, development, and delivery of general recreation programming
o Certified Pool Operator
o Aquatic Safety Inspector
Organizational skills, initiative, and ability to perform tasks independently and prioritize the work of others
Ability to carry out on-site meetings with clients and find solutions to logical issues
Public relations skills and the ability to facilitate meetings with customers and client groups
Problem-solving/analytical skills
Strong team-player orientation
Creative thinker with the willingness to learn new skills
Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook and recreation management software such as Perfect Mind
Knowledge of municipal policies/procedures/by-laws and applicable provincial/federal legislation and regulations
Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Valid class “G” Ontario driver’s license, and access to vehicle
Required to obtain and maintain satisfactory criminal record check
Schedule includes days, evenings and weekends; hours must be flexible to accommodate program requirements
