C.S. World Cargo 2000 Ltd. established in 1987, is a prominent and growing Freight Forwarding company with offices in Canada, the USA, the UK and Hong Kong and Guyana. We are looking for a freight forwarding logistician to join the team our Canadian office.
Reporting to the manager, the Freight Forwarding Logistician is responsible for planning and organizing the work schedules and process the operational logistics (e.g. coordinating the transport of cargo from its point of origin to a specific destination, negotiating the most cost-effective form of transportation to move the cargo safely and efficiently); it is common for the Freight Forwarding Logistician to propose a bid to carriers to find the most suitable carrier to start the shipping process.
Responsibilities
Plan and organize the work schedules and process the operational logistics. Coordinate and assign the work related to shipping, receiving, distributing, and maintaining inventories of materials. Responsible for conducting smooth operation of the supply chain and logistics activities from origin to destination and performing all responsibilities related to it. (e.g. Taking into account the perishable or hazardous nature of goods, cost, transit time and security). Quote new and existing customers based on cargo specifications provided and prepare ocean and air bookings to meet customer’s requirements. Communicate with customers, sales and operations team and negotiate the best possible rates while maintaining service requirements. Communicate with overseas agents to develop business and support their activities with prompt quotes, booking, and follow ups. Work with overseas agents to provide destination freight services to our clients. These services can include customs clearance, door deliveries, container unloading etc. Invoice customers promptly and correctly based on the original quotation provided and approve vendor invoices for payment based on written quotations received. Take initiative to resolve issues as they arise as the first point of contact for escalation and provide necessary feedback and customer service in creating sales orders when needed. Prepare reports that can help to coordinate the supply chain activities. Arrange insurance and assist the client in the event of claim. Arrange payment of freight and other charges or collection of payment on behalf of the client. Utilise technology and systems to enable real-time tracking of goods. Deal with special arrangements for transporting delicate cargoes, such as livestock, food, and medical supplies. Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situation and other factors that could affect the movement of freights. Performs other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications/Skills Requirements Minimum, College/University Diploma or Degree. Minimum 5 years’ working experience. Three (3) years operational knowledge in Freight Forwarding sector (Required). Excellent Communication skills. Teamwork, tact and good interpersonal skills. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Accuracy and attention to detail. Numeracy and computer literacy. Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel. Valid driver’s license (an asset). WORK HOURS AND ENVIRONMENT Normal working hours for this position are typically Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, however, working beyond these hours may be required. This position is referred to as a full-time exempt position.For full-time exempt employees, the work schedule is typically 40 hours per work week.
