About the role

Who We Are: Based in Stratford, Ontario, the Stratford Festival is one of the world’s foremost repertory theatre companies. It operates year-round, presenting a season of about a dozen plays each year between the months of April and November, a rich stream of digital content and hundreds of events designed to deepen understanding of the plays. For every person a theatregoer sees on our stages, we have seven people working behind the scenes, some of the world’s most dedicated and experienced arts workers. This position reports to the Facilities management team and is part of the Facilities team. This position is a casual coverage position for Stage Door Security Guard’s vacation and sick time and there is no guarantee of hours. Function: To monitor building security and respond to emergencies or urgent situations as required at the Stratford Festival buildings. This may include properties owned, leased or rented. To perform regular security tours of the building and grounds. Duties and responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the job description and within the Facilities Department. Key Responsibilities: Liaise with members of the public and internal staff Monitor and maintain security of all Stratford Festival buildings Complete communication logs Control parking and access to loading docks Shipping and receiving duties Lifting, bending, pushing and pulling boxes and packages Performing maintenance duties – Cleaning, room setup etc. Follow process and procedures related to Fire system monitoring and reporting Facilities Vehicle inspections Perform duties within Maintenance job classification as needed Minimum Qualifications: Possess a valid Ontario Security Guard License Bondable with a valid Ontario Driver’s License Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job (regular light to moderate lifting and carrying, plus heavy lifting (up to 50lbs) and extended periods of walking) Possess a valid First Aid/CPR/AED Level C certificate Experience in security building patrols, security software and general security practice Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in security. The successful candidate will be required to complete various on-site training. This casual unionized position is located in Stratford, Ontario and will begin immediately. Candidates must be available to work rotating twelve-hour shifts and must be available evenings and weekends (including holidays).
