Why is this role important?

The student is responsible for providing support and assistance to the Thematic Priorities program area in their work to facilitate the execution of CIHI’s priorities and related initiatives, as identified in our Strategic Plan and mandate.

What you'll do

  1. Support CIHI’s patient engagement program of work
  2. Perform environmental scan and literature reviews for current and relevant health information topics
  3. Perform thematic analysis of different topics and summarize results/findings
  4. Contribute to the development and maintenance of products that help internal and external clients perform health equity measurement and reporting
  5. Support and participate in collaboration and knowledge sharing within the Thematic Priorities team and with other teams
  6. Support management and organization of the team’s information management system
  7. Support content development for emails, internal communiques, webpages, presentations and other mechanisms for communication as needed
  8. Attend meetings and write related minutes as required

What you'll bring to the table

  • Working towards a graduate (Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Administration, Health Sciences, Health Informatics) program requiring Co-op as part of educational requirement
  • Experience conducting literature searches and reviews, and writing short texts for different audiences (public or professional)
  • Experience in qualitative research and working with qualitative research or text analytics software is an asset
  • Knowledge of current health and social issues is a strong asset
  • Knowledge about the Canadian health system, health inequalities measurement, and determinants of health is an asset
  • Ability to work as part of a small team with minimal supervision
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Fluency in English required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset
