Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: $70,000–$90,000
Position Overview Our client, a leading national law firm, is seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk to join its growing Commercial Real Estate team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated legal professional who enjoys working on sophisticated commercial real estate transactions in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play an integral role in supporting lawyers throughout the transaction lifecycle, from due diligence and title review to closing and post-closing documentation.
Key Responsibilities Assist lawyers with commercial real estate purchase, sale, leasing, and financing transactions. Conduct title, off-title, and due diligence searches, and prepare clear, accurate reports. Prepare and register documents through electronic land registration systems. Draft requisitions, closing documents, transaction books, and final reporting documents. Coordinate transaction closings while communicating with clients, lenders, municipalities, and other external stakeholders. Review title issues and assist in resolving registration and procedural matters. Manage multiple files simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and documentation is complete and accurate. Maintain electronic files, organize transaction documents, and support matter management throughout the lifecycle of each file. Provide exceptional client service while working closely with lawyers and other members of the legal support team.
Qualifications 7+ years of experience as a Commercial Real Estate Law Clerk, preferably in a law firm environment. Law Clerk Diploma, Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO) Certificate, or equivalent education. Strong knowledge of Registry, Land Titles, Polaris, and electronic land registration systems. Experience conducting title and off-title searches and preparing closing documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a professional and client-focused approach. French language proficiency is considered an asset.
