Research Facilitator
Position #: 14152
The Dean’s Office invites applications for a full time Research Facilitator, commencing June 29, 2026, or on a date mutually agreed upon. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Research Facilitator will:
- Work with the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and the Office of Vice-President Research to support and facilitate in the development of research applications.
- Review and facilitate grants applications with individual researchers.
- Identify government, private, and industry funding opportunities and potential applicants in cooperation with the Associate Dean Research.
- Review and facilitate the submission of large interdisciplinary team grant applications.
- Assist with knowledge translation, research reporting and preparation of nominations and award applications.
- Work with researchers from a variety of faculties applying to Tri-council agencies to assist with collaborative research projects involving multiple disciplines.
- Organize and facilitate faculty wide EDIA presentation as it relates to grant applications in collaboration with the Office of Vice-President Research.
- Administratively support the office of Research Services (ORS) with specific grant applications, preparing and processing correspondence, letter of intent, research materials, coordination of team meetings and ensuring proper routing of forms and applications.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets by obtaining quotes and estimates.
- Assist with compiling analyses, documents, and reports on research activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences is the fourth largest academic unit in the University of Manitoba consisting of seven departments, the Dean’s Office, the School of Agriculture, the Richardson Centre for Food Technology and Research, National Centre for Livestock and the Environment (NCLE), Bruce D. Campbell Farm and Food Discovery Centre (FFDC), Glenlea Research Station (GRS), and lan N. Morrison Research Farm.
The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and the School of Agriculture offer degree and diploma courses in agricultural and food sciences-related disciplines, professional upgrading courses, and various non-credit short courses. There are approximately 285 academic, research associate, post-doctoral and support staff members within the Faculty and approximately 812 undergraduate students, and 302 MSc and PhD students. In the 2022-2023 period, the Faculty’s budget included a fiscal operating budget of approximately $34 million and a research revenue over $35 million.
The Faculty’s overall objective is to respond to the needs of Manitoban, Canadian and international agri-food sectors, and the public. The Faculty’s mission is “to develop people, ideas, knowledge and practices to support the provision of food, bioresources and services that are healthy and sustainable for society, the environment and the agrifood sector.” This is accomplished by providing educated and trained graduates, research programs which support the changing needs of the industry, and outreach to share knowledge with our partner communities. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a science-related field.
Required qualifications include:
- Demonstrated research experience
- A proven track record of writing and editing grant applications
- A strong understanding of available granting programs
- The ability to coordinate teams of researchers and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
