What You’ll Do
You’ll act with integrity to:
Assist in the coordination and implementation of a facility management program for the Legislative Building, Legislative Staff, and end users. Assist in the development and justification of new base building facility standards.
You’ll support our collaboration as you:
Ensure quality of work from external consultants by reviewing designs to ensure the Legislative Assembly of Ontario (LAO) standards are met. Collaborates with the Senior Designer in the implementation of interior building standards. Maintain and update the electronic database for the chamber seating plan, space management program, and interior finishes inventory on a regular basis. Works with end users and/or independent consultants on analysis, site measurements, space plan development, finish selection, working drawings, furniture plans, and move plans. Maintain Legislative Assembly master drawings and provide updated drawings for key clients as necessary. Prepares scaled drawings for design and tender packages using AutoCAD, showing partitions, furniture, and related computer equipment, electrical, telephone, and signal equipment, cabling, and interior finishes.
How You Qualify
You demonstrate excellence through your:
Requires a diploma or university degree in interior design or equivalent, and a minimum of three years of related work experience, preferably in a heritage building. Must possess the ability to prepare and read architectural drawings, shop drawings, and diagrams. Knowledge of building and design principles is required. Must possess strong documentation and reporting skills Proven project management skills with the ability to manage small to medium-sized projects from the design concept stage through to client occupancy. Regular and consistent use of AUTOCAD (latest version). Problem-solving/analytical skills and the capacity to provide advice regarding space. Excellent oral communication skills. Experience with relevant computer software applications. Experience with SketchUp, Plotter, and graphic design is an asset. Knowledge in developing and maintaining base building standards, records, and information management for a facility is an asset. Registered/Provisional member of ARIDO or current member in good standing with an equivalent professional organization is considered an asset. Must be able to use Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, Project, Outlook, etc. Ability to lift up to 20lbs. Able to confidently work directly with clients and stakeholders, including elected Members of the Provincial Parliament and their staff, Legislative Assembly management and staff, contractors, consultants, etc.
