About the role
Your Responsibilities As the Teacher Development Manager at Gakino’amaage: Teach For Canada, you will play a key role in building strong, trusting relationships with educators and communities in the North. You will help teachers thrive through meaningful, individualized support rooted in local context, equity, and professional growth. Specific responsibilities include:
Build and maintain professional, trusting relationships with approximately 20-25 teachers, primarily from the 2026 cohort, working in northern First Nations. Travel to First Nations communities up to 8-10 weeks per year to provide in-school coaching, lead professional development, and build relationships with local education leaders. Collaborate with the Teacher Development team to create and implement new support resources and initiatives based on teacher, education assistant, and community partner needs and requests. Support other programmatic and operational activities within specific region (e.g. recruitment activities, relationship-building with Indigenous and education bodies, Advisory Council meetings, and fundraising meetings). Perform administrative and reporting tasks using Microsoft, Google Suite, ClickUp, Mail Chimp, Mail Merge, and Salesforce, as well as show willingness to learn new systems as needed. Work with the Gakino’amaage team to effectively plan and deliver all activities throughout the Summer Enrichment Program, taking ownership over specific portfolio responsibilities as assigned. Collaborate with the Gakino’amaage team to ensure that teacher and education assistant experiences inform programming initiatives. Support the Teacher Recruitment team and Education Assistant Program lead in implementing the 2026-2027 Summer Enrichment Program and 2026-2027 school initiatives. Support the department's quarterly planning, annual planning, and review processes to reach and advance the goals of the department and organization. Support the Teacher Development and Gakino’amaage team in other ways as needed. Your Fit Thrive on connection and purpose. You believe in the power of relationships and community-based learning. Job term: Full-time, permanent Requirements: Applicants must be certified teachers in Canadian jurisdictions, or have equivalent classroom or education leadership experience, ideally in culturally diverse settings. Must have a valid driver’s license. Desired Experience: Experience facilitating professional development sessions. Experience teaching in or working with northern First Nations. Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and support teachers in high-stress or isolated work environments. Location: Hybrid position from one of the following locations: Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. The role will require travel to partner communities. Work-related travel expenses will be covered by Gakino’amaage: Teach For Canada.
