Stafingo is Hiring! Stafingo is recruiting on behalf of a confidential Public Sector client in Alberta for an Administrative Support Specialist to support Access to Information (ATI) operations and ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing of information access requests.

Position Details : Job Title: Administrative Support Specialist – Access to Information (ATI) Employment Type: Contract Industry: Public Sector / Government Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Onsite) Compensation : $30.00-$37.00 per hour Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM Alberta Time (1-hour lunch break) Contract Type: Full-Time Contract Background Check: Criminal record check required
Training Required: Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), Access to Information Act (ATIA), Information Management, Security/Cybersecurity, Respect in the Workplace, and other mandatory government training
Role Overview : As an Administrative Support Specialist supporting Access to Information (ATI) operations, you will provide administrative coordination and operational support to ensure information access requests are processed accurately, efficiently, and within legislative timelines. You will work closely with ATI Coordinators, Advisors, program area contacts, and internal stakeholders to manage requests, prepare correspondence, maintain records, coordinate document collection, and support compliance with government information access requirements.
Key Responsibilities : Access to Information Request Administration : Monitor and track ATI requests received through hard copy submissions and online public portals. Review incoming requests to ensure required information, attachments, and application fees are complete. Prepare draft correspondence including: Acknowledgment letters Requests for additional information Fee-related correspondence Closure notifications Routine disclosure notifications Assign requests to appropriate ATI Advisors based on direction from ATI Coordinators. Maintain accurate electronic files and documentation for all ATI requests.
Records Management & Document Coordination : Create and maintain electronic request files with supporting documentation. Coordinate record searches with program area representatives. Monitor record search activities and follow up with designated contacts to ensure completion within required timelines. Assist ATI Advisors with document preparation, including: Converting documents into PDF format Uploading responsive records Preparing document packages for review and redaction Ensure request documentation is complete and properly maintained for audit and records management purposes.
Financial Administration Support : Support processing of ATI application fees and additional charges. Provide payment instructions to applicants when required. Prepare deposits for: Cheques Money orders Cash payments Assist with refund documentation and coordinate approvals with appropriate teams. Maintain accurate records of payments and refunds.
Administrative & Office Support : Respond to general inquiries regarding ATI processes, timelines, and procedures. Forward complex legislative or policy questions to appropriate staff. Receive, review, and distribute office correspondence. Prepare applicant packages when electronic delivery is not possible. Maintain inventory records and shared folders. Support team operations through administrative assistance and cross-training.
Required Qualifications : Experience providing administrative support in a professional office environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Experience handling confidential or sensitive information. Strong attention to detail with excellent document review and accuracy skills. Experience with: Records management Document processing Data entry File organization Correspondence preparation Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and document management tools.
Preferred Qualifications : Previous experience supporting government, public sector, healthcare, education, or regulated environments. Experience working with: Access to Information processes Freedom of Information (FOI) Privacy legislation Records management systems Government administrative procedures Familiarity with privacy and information management principles. Experience supporting compliance-driven administrative processes.
