Achev’s latest Impact Report: www.Achev.ca SUMMARY Facilitate information sessions, liaise with other programs & services for organizing information sessions to assist newcomers and address their settlement needs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Facilitate information sessions for newcomers on settlement topics in a culturally sensitive manner at all 5 locations. Based on changing needs of newcomers population identify and develop curriculum for new Information Sessions. Conduct Information Sessions on Research and compile education and career related information for newcomers Research information on new government policies and related programs and services Collect, organize and file hard copies of flyers, brochures, and pamphlets of programs and services offered by government and agencies serving newcomers Maintain and update existing information related to a variety of training programs for newcomers Maintain, update and expand information files in the Centre including internet sites Refer clients to appropriate settlement, training or other programs Conduct individual and group orientation tours of the site and offer general information to clients Disseminate project information to the local government agencies, immigrant serving agencies Assist in the development of advertising materials and pamphlets for the project and prepare them for translation Assist in the collection of statistics and preparation of material for reports Promote sessions at various venues Required to work some evenings and Saturdays QUALIFICATIONS Post Secondary or equivalent education Demonstrated facilitation experience Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and leadership skills Good presentation, problem solving, organizational and project management skills Strong internet research skills Knowledge of immigrant youth and refugee youth issues Knowledge of education system in Ontario Knowledge of settlement programs & services offered by settlement/immigrant serving agencies Experience working with youth and adults Knowledge of labour market trends Knowledge of eligibility criteria for admissions to post secondary education Knowledge of OSAP and other financial assistance for post secondary education Knowledge of government programs and eligibility criteria Knowledge of French or a language other than English is most desirable Demonstrated experience in dealing with multicultural and disability issues Salary rate: $ 59,602.00 This is a current vacancy.
