About the role

Come join our vibrant team of people creating original theatre each week with youth all over Alberta. Each week we create one-to-two new shows with up to 600 actors somewhere in the province. We are a company of physical theatre and have created almost 1400 custom shows in Alberta Schools. The person that we are looking for is energetic, superbly organized and passionate about being part of a group creating theatre for young audiences. This is an 11-month contract position that could become a permanent position.

Background Trickster Theatre is one of Alberta’s largest children’s theatre companies. It produces 45-to-60 week-long artist-in-school residencies per year as well as running two smaller day programs. The company operates throughout Alberta and was founded in 1980. For more information visit www.trickstertheatre.com. The program coordinator will play a key role in the success of our company and our programs. This position reports to the executive director and will work closely with both the production manager and the office manager.

Overview This position will be the primary person responsible for keeping company operations running smoothly and on schedule. As such, the creation of scheduling and tracking processes will involve the adoption of current systems where relevant and the creation of new systems where needed.

Specific Accountabilities Assist with all office and residency planning related duties: Program Support: Support the school programs by monitoring and keeping all aspects of the programs on schedule, including logistics gathering, theme development, artist staffing, parent support, hotel bookings, costume and prop maintenance as well as artist travel and vehicle maintenance. Training Coordination: Support training by monitoring and scheduling all artist and program leader training. Materials Development: Support training materials development. Checklist Management: Monitor and schedule checklists used for Residency leaders, tech leaders and volunteer/costume leaders. Asset Tracking: Track equipment and maintain up to date insurance and inventory lists. Communications: Monitor and schedule social media and website updates and posts. Finance Support: Track and organize receipts for accounting. Marketing & Sales: Track sales and monitor marketing timelines. Qualifications At least two years experience in arts administration, general office admin, stage management or working in schools in an organizational capacity. Strong skills with databases and spreadsheets. Strong management and organizational skills. Excellent computer skills (Mac and web). Strong desire to support the arts in schools. Helpful skills would also include graphics, web or video experience, AI programming, grant writing, accounting experience.

Position Details This is a 10 – 11 month contract (end of June 2027). Expected work hours 35 – 40 hours per week. 1 day per week can be worked remotely.
