Department Summary

The UVic Peter B. Gustavson School of Business is dedicated to providing business research and education that is non-traditional in its approach, creative in its application, and unique in its perspective.

The Gustavson School of Business offers a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOM), a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Global Business (MGB), a Master of Management (MM), and a PhD in International Management and Organization. All have an international focus embedded in their curricula and a strong experiential learning component. Scholarship and teaching at the school are strongly aligned around our areas of specialization (International Business, Entrepreneurship, Service Management, and Sustainability) and we are a leader in integrating curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Graduate Programs, the Associate Director, Graduate Programs Operations develops and implements a comprehensive operations plan across all masters programs, focused on strengthening admissions, data collection and other processes. Across Gill Graduate programs (currently DMBA, WMBA, MGB and MM) the role is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of admissions as well as data reporting. Major responsibilities include working independently, and collaboratively across programs, to develop, implement and evaluate student-centric practices, standards, services or projects related to increasing continuous improvement of program activities and operations, and provide high-quality advice and key support to program directors.

Preferred

An undergraduate degree in business or related discipline, with a master’s degree preferred, and at least 3 years’ experience, including:

Working in an administrative capacity in a post-secondary, professional school, graduate program; Managing Admissions within a post-secondary environment; Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, members of the business community and external service providers; Ability to effectively utilize data analysis tools in various ways such as the development and production of reports.

In Addition, This Position Requires

Strong team leadership, and written and verbal communication and presentation skills; Ability to effectively problem solve, prioritize, and manage projects in a complex department; A high level of competence and advanced knowledge of a network computer environment, including office software packages (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook), data, learning, financial, and website management systems, including Contribute, SharePoint, Brightspace, APEX, Banner and FAST; Familiarity with GMAC career outcome standards; Ability to work collaboratively as a member of team in a project-based environment; Proven track record achieving project goals on time and producing deliverables of a high quality; Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to conduct effective, in-depth research, and skills to critically analyze research results.
