Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. (Al-Pac) is seeking an Analyst, HSS Assurance & Compliance to work out of our mill site near Athabasca, Alberta. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving Alberta-Pacific's Health, Safety and Security governance, assurance, compliance, and contractor management programs. The role provides oversight and assurance regarding compliance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation, COR requirements, internal standards, management systems, security requirements, emergency management expectations, and regulatory obligations.

Role Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of Alberta-Pacific's HSS Management System. Develop, review and maintain HSS standards, procedures, practices and governance documents. Ensure alignment of HSS programs with Alberta OH&S legislation, COR requirements, industry standards and corporate expectations. Monitor changes in legislation and regulatory requirements and coordinate updates to internal programs and standards. Support governance reviews and assurance activities across Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Management programs. Maintain document control and governance processes for HSS standards and procedures. Conduct compliance reviews, field verifications and management system assessments across all operating areas. Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions and verify closure. Develop compliance dashboards, scorecards and performance reporting for leadership teams. Lead planning, coordination and execution of annual COR internal and external audits. Monitor organizational compliance with regulatory, corporate and internal requirements. Analyse trends, findings and recurring issues to identify systemic improvement opportunities. Lead continuous improvement initiatives arising from audit and assurance findings. Administer and govern the ComplyWorks contractor management system. Conduct contractor compliance audits and field verifications and monitor contractor performance against HSS expectations. Support integration of Safety, Security, Health and Emergency Management programs into a unified management system. Carry out a wide range of training and compliance data processing tasks and analysis as required to assess and update programs or provide coaching and guidance on process changes as needed. Provide assurance and reporting regarding organizational compliance performance, certification status, and training governance effectiveness. Plans and prioritizes work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.Aligns work requirements with relevant workgroups.

Role Requirements

University degree in a related field (OHS, Industrial Hygiene, and Environmental Health, Adult Education) is required. An equivalency of a related two-year diploma plus 1-3 years of recent related experience will be considered or 3-5+ years working knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code and Act, and related legislation. Adult Education certification is considered an asset. Occupational Health & Safety certificate is considered an asset. Manufacturing facility experience is an asset. CRSP or other safety designation is an asset. Experience managing health and safety training in the forestry/manufacturing sectors is preferred. Well-developed organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments. Forestry and/or mill background or experience would be an asset.

Other

Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Strong critical thinking skills. Audit experience on Health & Safety systems. Must be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, and strong technical writing skills. Knowledge and familiarity with training course development and instruction, as well as Leaning Management Systems.
