Regulatory Compliance Assistant

Location: Hybrid - Anywhere in Canada

The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $56,180 - $84,800. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only. The actual base salary offered within this range will be determined by the successful candidate’s skills and experience, as well as internal equity.

Empire Life is looking to hire a Regulatory Compliance Assistant to join our Compliance team! We are actively seeking candidates to fill a current, open position.

Reporting to Director AML and Regulatory Compliance, the Regulatory Compliance Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support to the Corporate Compliance team on regulatory filings and other administrative activities. Additional administrative support to other teams (Legal, Corporate Secretary) may be required.

What you’ll be working on

  • Support the administration of the regulatory compliance management database including processing regulatory updates and access role changes
  • Facilitate the quarterly compliance attestation cycle, collaborating with business units across the Company to ensure timely and accurate certification of regulatory requirements
  • Administration of the enterprise-wide policy acknowledgement and compliance training program, including set-up and deployment, and completion tracking within the learning management system
  • Support the preparation and submission of regulatory filings with regulatory bodies, including OSFI and FINTRAC, ensuring adherence to strict filing deadlines
  • Maintain the registry of corporate representation across industry regulatory committees and working groups
  • Provide administrative support to Legal, Compliance and Corporate Secretary teams, including paying invoices, submitting access requests, continuous professional development registrations, staff reimbursements, ordering supplies, library filings, and coordinating departmental meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for you to have

  • Coordinate administrative processes with a focus on rigorous quality control, adherence to strict deadlines, and procedural accuracy
  • Strong attention to detail/accuracy
  • Tact, diplomacy and the ability to handle highly confidential information
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Ability to organize/schedule both people and information and ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks
  • Well-developed writing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience administering regulatory compliance management databases is an asset
  • 3+ years work experience in administration services
  • Strong working knowledge of legal, regulatory or corporate office and file management
  • Strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database computer software
  • Completion of diploma in Business or Legal Administration is an asset
