Are you passionate about helping students succeed and skilled at evaluating academic credentials with precision? Join the University of Regina as a Transfer Credit Specialist and play a key role in ensuring fair, timely, and accurate transfer credit assessments!

Reporting to the Coordinator, Transfer Credit, the primary responsibility of this position is to perform timely and accurate transfer credit assessments which support the University of Regina’s recruitment, admission, and registration targets for transfer students. The Transfer Credit Specialist will assess transcripts for transfer credit eligibility by following best practices in credential recognition and will guide students on the application of credits within Faculty and program regulations. They will also process transfer credit for letters of permission (LOP), exchange learning agreements, and PLAR. This position supports the receipt of incoming transcripts and is responsible for ensuring best practices in records management and authentication.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assess undergraduate transfer credit and apply relevant fees
  • Determine institutional and course eligibility
  • Evaluate transcripts for authenticity and detect fraud
  • Track and process letters of permission
  • Enter transfer credit decisions into the Student Information System (SIS)
  • Interpret and apply admission and transfer credit policies
  • Coordinate with admissions and faculties
  • Generate and audit reports using Caspur and other tools
  • Maintain records using systems such as SLATE, UR Docs, and network drives
  • Respond to high volumes of student inquiries via email
  • Draft communications for internal and external audiences
  • Recommend process improvements based on trends and policy changes

Position Requirements

What You’ll Bring to this Position:

  • Grade 12 supplemented by the successful completion of a recognized business certificate combined
  • Minimum of five years related experience is required.
  • A suitable combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the university community and academic programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of university admission policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of university transfer credit policies and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of the BANNER student module required; Knowledge of Banner transfer credit module an asset.
  • Experience using UR Docs and SLATE to support student records preferred.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop logical solutions.
  • Ability to make effective administrative/procedural decisions and recommendations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, including strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with domestic and international students, the general public, and co-workers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials and incorporate these into the various multimedia technologies used in the office.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • This position requires adapting to evolving processes, strong communication, and a commitment to service and continuous improvement.

Physical Demands

Seated at a computer for extended periods of time.

Pay Grade CUPE Phase 5 Salary Range 54,691.00 - 73,837.40 annually Status Permanent Work Hours

8:15 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Some occasions to work evenings or weekends approximately 4-5 times per year.
