We are looking for an experienced Legal Assistant who thrives in a collegial and fast-paced environment and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Position Summary The Legal Assistant is a key member of our legal team, providing advanced administrative and legal support to lawyers while helping ensure the efficient operation of the practice. This position is ideal for a highly organized professional who can manage competing priorities, anticipate needs, and work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, edit, proofread, and format legal correspondence, pleadings, agreements, affidavits, and other legal documents.
  • Manage lawyer calendars, deadlines, limitation periods, and up appointments.
  • Coordinate court filings, service, and electronic filing requirements.
  • Organize and maintain electronic client files.
  • Draft routine correspondence and communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and third parties.
  • Assist with file opening, conflict checks, and file closing.
  • Coordinate meetings, discoveries, mediations, and hearings.
  • Conduct legal and corporate searches as required.
  • Monitor workflow to ensure deadlines are met and files progress efficiently.
  • Identify administrative improvements and support firm operations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a legal assistant in a law firm.
  • Graduate of an accredited Legal Assistant or Legal Administrative Assistant program, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams).
  • Experience with legal practice management software.
  • Excellent document formatting and proofreading skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Professional, proactive, and client-focused.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

Preferred Experience Experience in family law is considered an asset.
