Do you aspire to be a Powerline Technician Apprentice? This may be the perfect opportunity for you! We are recruting temporary Labourer positions that will be working alongside SaskPower's Powerline Technicians. This is a great opportunity to get exposure to the Powerline Technician trade and a potential opportunity to apply for future Powerline Technician Apprentice positions.
A 1A driver's licence is considered an asset. Please attach a copy of your driver's licence and high school transcript with your application.
Shift work is a requirement for this position.
The employee in this classification is responsible to perform a variety of routine and general laboring activities related to the operation and maintenance of SaskPower’s facilities and infrastructure.
Key Accountabilities
Perform various manual construction, maintenance and servicing activities, utilizing hand and powered tools and equipment, including light duty mobile equipment Operate, monitor and inspect and repair vehicles, equipment and tools, including analyze and diagnose equipment malfunctions while taking corrective action, as required Move, sort and pile materials and products manually Arrange for appropriate permits and perform switching, as authorized Participate in preventative and corrective operational and maintenance programs Maintain files and records associated with the position Provide on-the-job instructions and general work directions to staff, as required Assist other groups internally and externally, as required Adhere to all applicable safety and environmental standards, regulations and corporate commitments Participate in continuous educational and professional development, as required Maintain a clean and orderly work area Other related duties, as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position Ability to cooperate and deal tactfully with others Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing Valid Class 5 driver’s licence, as required by the position
Candidates under consideration may be required to participate in an assessment process consisting of any/all of the following: interview, abilities test, case study and/or presentation.

We manage over $13 billion in generation, transmission and distribution assets.
Our power comes from: • 3 coal-fired power stations – 1,389 MW • 7 hydroelectric stations – 864 MW • 8 wind facilities – 617 MW • 3 solar facilities – 83 MW • 10 natural gas stations – 2,160 MW • import power purchase agreements – 290 MW • small independent power producers – 34 MW
Our total available generation capacity is 5,437 MW.
Our network serves a large geographic area and widely dispersed population. We maintain more than 160,000 kilometres of power lines, 59 high voltage switching stations and 200 distribution substations. We also have interconnections at the Manitoba, Alberta and North Dakota borders.
