Universal Rail Services is seeking a Project Coordinator (Co-op Placement) to support our Project Management team in our Signals & Communications division on active railway infrastructure projects throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. The Opportunity Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator (Co-op) will support project teams by assisting with administrative activities, project coordination, documentation management, and project tracking. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in railway construction and project delivery while developing an understanding of project planning, bidding, procurement, contracting, scheduling, cash flow management, and customer relationship management within the railway industry. This placement is more than a co-op opportunity — it's a chance to gain firsthand experience supporting projects that help keep Canada's railway network moving safely and efficiently. What You'll Do Assist with the administrative activities of multiple projects at various stages of completion Provide ongoing communication and support to Project Managers and Project Coordinators Support project teams in achieving objectives related to: Customer satisfaction Safety Quality Production Revenue and profitability Gain exposure to the Company's commitment to safety and core values through active participation in project activities Assist with obtaining and organizing critical project documentation, including: Permits Submittals Subcontractor insurance requirements Client-required documentation Learn how to track project activities, schedules, and deliverables Assist in preparing project progress reports and project status updates Support the identification of scope changes and potential change order opportunities Assist with project close-out activities, including: Final documentation Revenue reconciliation Punch list tracking Project completion reporting Update and maintain customer and stakeholder databases, including: Clients Contractors Subcontractors Industry contacts Perform other related duties as required What You Bring Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related post-secondary program Coursework in Project Management is considered an asset Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to build positive working relationships with clients, team members, and stakeholders Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in a project-based environment Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality Strong attention to detail and a willingness to take initiative What We Offer Competitive pay Hands-on experience supporting active railway infrastructure projects Opportunities to learn about project management, construction operations, and the railway industry Mentorship and development opportunities with experienced project professionals The opportunity to work with a great team where Safety is an integral part of our culture Apply Today!
