ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Student Services Manager, Student Services is responsible for enhancing the student experience by providing personalized support and guidance aligned with students' academic and career goals. This position combines administrative responsibilities with direct student engagement and requires strong interpersonal and organization skills. 

Student Services collaborates with various departments across the college to support practicum placements and student development initiatives. This role plays a key part in fostering a positive and supportive learning environment, in alignment with the college's core values. 

Key Responsibilities 

 Student Support & Coaching

  • Educate students on Student Loan Repayment and provide guidance as needed.
  • Monitor student progress and academic behavior, proactively intervening through counseling, coaching, and action planning.
  • Coach students on resume writing, job search strategies, and interview skills.

 Community & Relationship Building

  • Build and maintain community relationships to increase employment opportunities for graduates.
  • Support student recruitment efforts by attracting potential new students.

 Administrative & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate daily reporting of student attendance and progress.
  • Maintain detailed student records in compliance with FOIP/PIPEDA, tracking funding sources, program details, withdrawals, absences, and employment opportunities.
  • Provide timely reporting and updates to management.
  • Record and analyze monthly KPI data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

 Events & Engagement

  • Participate in college events, including orientations, open houses, graduations, trade shows, and student appreciation activities.
  • Represent AOLCC professionally and positively at all events and interactions.

Other Duties

  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned by leadership.

  • Ability to guide, mentor, and support students academically and professionally, with empathy and responsiveness.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication, relationship-building, and collaboration with students, staff, and community partners.

Organizational & Administrative Skills

  • Efficiently manage records, reporting, compliance (FOIP/PIPEDA), and multiple priorities with attention to detail.

Problem-Solving & Initiative

  • Proactively identify challenges, develop action plans, and implement solutions to support student success.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners and participate effectively in events to promote the institution and opportunities for students.

 Qualifications

  • Education: University/college courses are an asset.
  • Experience: Three years’ experience in counseling, educating, or supporting adults is an asset.
  • Proficient with technology (MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Highly proficient communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in coaching, counseling, or student support preferred
  • Knowledge of educational administration and student record management
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail

Job Types: Full-Time, Contract

Pay: $45,000.00 per year
