Position Summary

Temporary Part-Time Support Staff, new contract position (Immediate to September 18, 2026)

The Credential Assessment Officer independently reviews domestic and international academic credentials to support admissions decisions. This role involves evaluating transcripts, verifying document authenticity, determining equivalency to Ontario education standards, and communicating outcomes to applicants.

The incumbent also researchers international education systems, maintains assessment resources, and supports admissions processes during peak periods.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the department's needs through a hybrid work arrangement, with on-site work at the Doon campus, located at 299 Doon Valley Dr. in Kitchener. The Credential Assessment Officer will be scheduled for up to 20 hours, four to five days per week, Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

Credential assessment

Evaluate transcripts for admission purposes Determine equivalency to Ontario standards (e.g., Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), diploma, degree, or graduate certificate), including subjects, levels, credits, and grades Verify the authenticity of academic documents Record assessment results in the Student Information System (SIS) and maintain internal databases Communicate assessment outcomes to applicants Review and respond to assessment appeals or complaints

Research and resource development

Research international education systems and credential requirements Develop and maintain internal reference materials by country Ensure resources are current and support consistent evaluation practices

Admissions support

Collaborate with the admissions team to process and maintain applicant records Review applications received through the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS) Ensure applicants meet Ministry and college admission requirements Interpret transcript evaluations and identify prerequisite equivalencies Update applicant status and initiate communication through college systems Verify that all submitted documentation meets institutional requirements Follow up on application issues and resolve discrepancies with applicants

Operations support

Assist with enrolment and registration activities during intake periods Support incoming student inquiries, including triage and application-related questions Assist with confirmation of fees and other intake-related processes

Qualifications

A two-year diploma in a Business, Arts, or Science-related field is required Two years of office experience is required, preferably in an educational institution Experience with credential assessment and admission processes is an asset Knowledge of international education systems and transcript authentication practices Experience assessing international transcripts against Ontario standards Ability to understand and interpret complex documentation Excellent communication skills, organizational, and time management abilities Strong customer service skills and ability to work independently and manage competing priorities Ability to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
