About the role

Southpointe Academy is an independent IB school in South Delta, serving 740 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. We’re known for our strong community, caring culture, and focus on helping students grow into responsible, confident young people.

Our campus includes modern facilities and purpose-built learning spaces, with a major 75,000 sq. ft. expansion currently underway.

We are looking for a Temporary Facilities Support Worker to join our Buildings & Grounds team. This role helps keep daily school operations running smoothly, including room setups, basic maintenance, and support for school events. The position also includes traffic control and flagging to help keep students, staff, and families safe when entering and leaving the campus.

This role starts as soon as possible.

Position Overview: *These may include, but are not limited to… Conducting routine, cyclical maintenance and minor repairs; Supporting facilities projects typically scheduled during school holidays; Assisting with school function set-up; School parking lot duties; Traffic management; Transporting inventory and materials; Picking up and delivery of supplies using school vehicles; Providing quality and timely service in responding to all requests whether verbal, written, phone calls and software work orders for maintaining buildings and grounds; Escalating all unusual events, circumstances, or other safety or quality control issues to the Manager of Facilities and Events; Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum high school diploma, trades and technical formal training preferred; Minimum one year experience using a variety of standard tools for building repairs and maintenance required; Knowledge of repair techniques preferred; Ability to perform all duties in accordance with established safety standards; Ability to represent the school in a professional and positive manner at all times. Ability to maintain and enhance the school’s image when interacting with staff, students, parents, and vendors. Willing to be on call on a rotational basis to respond to the needs of school and / or for emergencies; Willing to train on traffic management; Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs; Proficiency with MS Office and Google-suite gmail, calendar, documents, etc.; Ability to learn new computer systems as operationally required; WHMIS (Southpointe will provide training); Ability to obtain Criminal Record Check clearance; English language comprehension level for effective verbal and written communication; Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean driver's abstract .

Salary: $52,000 - $57,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Two weeks’ vacation, prorated. One addition weeks' vacation during spring break Additional paid time off between Christmas and New Year. Comprehensive Benefits plan (extended health and dental coverage). Generous RRSP program.
