About the role

Description:

The City of Fredericton is seeking a detail-oriented Clerk for its Support Service Division of the Fredericton Police Force (FPF).

Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Support Services, the Clerk position provides administrative and front-line clerical support within the Police Department. The position is primarily responsible for reception and switchboard duties, processing criminal record checks, and completing accurate data entry in departmental systems. This includes responding to public and internal inquiries, receiving and directing walk-in clients, entering and updating records related to tickets, motor vehicle collisions, and telephone reporting matters, and supporting the timely processing, scanning, filing, and distribution of police-related documents. The Clerk performs duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements while supporting the effective delivery of administrative services within Support Services.

Essential

To be considered for this position, applicants must demonstrate the following:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration, criminal justice administration, office administration, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience. 
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and other Windows driven programs, photocopiers and printers.
  • Security Clearance.

Candidates from outside the Fredericton Police Force are required to undergo comprehensive enhanced screening to determine security clearance eligibility, which may include, but is not limited to:

 

  • Ethics & Suitability Interview

 

 

  • Comprehensive background and Reference checks.

 

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered where they provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the essential duties of the position. Applicants are encouraged to describe how their background aligns with the requirements of the role.

The following qualifications are not required but may strengthen an application: 

  • Knowledge of the Versaterm RMS, JIS, Motor Vehicle or similar systems. 
  • Knowledge of operating procedures, policies, and guidelines. 
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with difficult customers. 
  • Ability to communicate in both official languages will be considered an asset.
