Applications are invited for the position of Paramedic Programs Technologist and Placement Officer in the School of Health Sciences, located at the Welland Campus. The starting rate is $44.48 (Payband J) for a 35-hour work week, 10 months per year. Additional hours may be required as necessary. Reporting to the Associate Dean, School of Health Sciences, the Paramedic Programs Technologist and Placement Officer provides expert lab support to Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) and Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) programs, including administrative support, coordination, and liaison functions to the Associate Dean, faculty, students, and field placement agencies in the Primary Care and Advanced Care programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Ensure the organization, maintenance and operation of the paramedic skills labs for all practical activities related to ACP and PCP programs Demonstrate, supervise and provide feedback and evaluation to students in skills and simulation labs, and clinical settings under the direction of the program manager Provide confidential support and assistance to students of in the ACP and PCP programs by setting up, organizing, implementing and monitoring the overall field placements Acts as a resource for students, placement agencies, preceptors, and college departments in all field placement situations as needed within the program Facilitate learning experiences in clinical/hospital practice settings Manages the overall process of tracking, validating, and auditing competencies as outlined in the National Occupational Competency Profile for Paramedics Reinforce the correct procedures and/or principles and demonstrating and coaching where required, the prescribed skills taught previously by faculty in formal academic setting Work collaboratively with all program staff and health care professionals in the field to determine and implement an effective learning environment Make accurate assessments and judgements related to students’ ability to perform skills in clinical settings Work in collaboration with academic administrators, other college departments, students, placement partners, and industry partners Act as a resource/support for students both at the College and at field placement sites, responding to inquiries and/or concerns regarding placement issues, including breakdown of placement

Qualifications: Two (2) year Primary Care Paramedic Diploma One (1) year post diploma Certificate in Advanced Care Paramedic from an accredited program Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working as an Advance Care Paramedic Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant (AEMCA) Certification from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to problem-solve and prioritize tasks Well-developed computer skills using a variety of software including Microsoft Office applications Niagara College is a place-based organization, and all positions are primarily based on campus.
