Are you an experienced warehouse and inventory professional who takes pride in accuracy, customer service, and keeping operations running smoothly? The City is seeking a Storekeeper 2, who'll play an important part in ensuring departments across the organization have the materials, supplies, and equipment they need to deliver essential services to our community. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment where no two days are alike and where your attention to detail directly impacts operational success, we'd like to hear from you.

We're a team that believes how we work is just as important as the work we do. Grounded in our values - Own It, Team Up, Be Curious, and Service with Care - we're committed to delivering meaningful impact for our community while supporting each other along the way.

What You'll Do

Help ensure City departments have timely access to the inventory, supplies, and materials needed to deliver services effectively. Maintain accurate inventory records that support sound purchasing decisions and efficient warehouse operations. Contribute to inventory accuracy through cycle counts, inventory monitoring, and proactive stock management. Support cost-effective operations by balancing inventory availability while minimizing stock shortages and excess inventory. Build positive working relationships with suppliers and internal customers to ensure timely and effective service delivery. Help maintain a safe, organized, and efficient warehouse environment that supports operational excellence. Ensure incoming goods meet quality, quantity, and purchasing requirements before entering inventory. Contribute to the integrity of purchasing, inventory, and warehouse data through accurate use of the City's ERP system.

A closer look at the role

As a Storekeeper 2, you'll be at the center of daily warehouse and inventory operations. You'll receive, inspect, issue, and distribute stock while ensuring inventory records remain accurate and up to date. You'll work closely with suppliers to obtain pricing and product information, purchase designated inventory items, and monitor stock levels to support operational needs.

Your day may include conducting cycle counts, coordinating deliveries, preparing items for shipment, arranging returns or repairs, and operating equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. You'll interact with employees from across the organization, providing responsive service and helping ensure the right products are available at the right time. Success in this role comes from being organized, adaptable, customer-focused, and committed to continuous accuracy and safety.

What You Bring

Strong organizational skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate records. A customer-service mindset and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and decision-making. Reliability, dependability, and a strong sense of accountability. A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement. Commitment to working safely and contributing to a positive workplace culture. Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems, processes, and technologies. Professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions.

Qualifications

Successful completion of a Warehouse Certificate or Parts Technician Certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution. Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible stores or warehouse experience. Experience working with inventory control systems, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of inventory management principles, purchasing practices, and warehouse operations. Knowledge of WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) requirements. Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and related material-handling equipment is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
