Job Summary
Under the auspices of Dalhousie’s Medical Research Development Office, the Pulse Biomed Hub ( PBH ) is an innovation and entrepreneurship sandbox and early-stage accelerator at Dalhousie University dedicated to improving health outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration across the Faculties of Dentistry, Health, and Medicine. Pulse supports students, faculty, and community partners in developing and commercially launching creative solutions to complex health challenges through program training, events, and experiential learning opportunities. Reporting to the PBH Program Manager, the Program Assistant, Communications, Events, and Community Engagement, will work with the program manager to generate promotional activities, coordinate events, and develop communications that foster engagement across the Pulse community.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning, coordinating, and supporting PBH events, workshops, innovation challenges, and community programming. Assist in developing and implement promotional strategies for PBH initiatives and opportunities. Develop digital and print communications materials consistent with PBH branding. Work with the PBH program manager to create and contribute content for the PBH newsletter and PBH website. Create and distribute newsletters highlighting activities, achievements, and upcoming events. Assist the PBH program manager to maintain event calendars and support logistical planning and execution, and to execute on and maintain PBH social media channels, including content creation, scheduling, and audience engagement. Work collaboratively with the PBH team, students, faculty, entrepreneurs, and community partners to promote interdisciplinary participation. Track engagement metrics and provide recommendations to the PBH program manager to strengthen outreach and visibility.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Diploma in communications, marketing, public relations or related area plus approximately three years’ relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience). Experience in communications, marketing, event planning, public relations, or a related field, including managing social media platforms and digital communication tools. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, MailChimp, and email marketing software, and strong ability to learn and implement new related software tools Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and demonstrated ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while working independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated interest in innovation, entrepreneurship, and improving health outcomes.

Experience working in post-secondary, health, or community settings.
