The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Administrative and Clerical officer to join a multidisciplinary team providing Nuclear Medicine services in South Glasgow, NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The South Glasgow department operates across several sites, including the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the new Victoria Hospital. Current equipment includes SPECT-CT scanners, gamma cameras and a DXA scanner.
This busy department has a workload of over 10,000 patient procedures per annum and specialist procedures include neuro and SPECT-CT.
The principal roles of the post are to support patient care in the Nuclear Medicine Department by providing comprehensive and efficient clerical, administrative and reception services.

Provide general administrative and clerical support.
You will have Administration, Clerical Qualifications or equivalent skills to NVQ level 2, or equivalent experience working in a busy office / reception environment. You will also have experience in the use of a range of office computer packages. Previous experience of working in a healthcare environment, with Radiology and Patient Information Systems would be desirable. You should have good communication, interpersonal, organisational and IT skills and an ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients and the public.
No Band 2 roles are eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa or Heath and Care Worker visa routes.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
This is permanent, full-time post of 36 hours per week.
This post is based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The shift pattern is Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
Arrange, change and cancel appointments and prepare and issue appointment letters (via the Radiology Information System), according to departmental procedures. Also include appropriate enclosures. Deal with all enquiries related to appointments, both face to face and via telephone. Seek advice from other staff as required for more complex enquiries. Perform routine electronic communications such as text reminders for appointment Act as a first point of contact for the department, seeking advice from Technologist, Nursing, Support Workers or Scientific staff, as appropriate, on urgent or highly complex examination requests. Liaise with GP practices and Hospitals regarding patient and referrer information Assume responsibility for the integrity of patient databases and confidentiality of patient records by following all departmental and hospital procedures & guidelines. Provide general administrative and clerical support to the department by performing a variety of clerical & administrative duties including dealing with mail, telephone enquiries, photocopying, filing and scanning paperwork Have some responsibility for stock control of stationery and computer supplies, using the PECOS supplies system and liaising with procurement as required. Manage departmental mail, responding where appropriate and directing/prioritising to assist in the efficiency of the service delivery File all referrals, scan paper referrals onto CRIS system. Checking a number of patient referral lists across NHSGG&C on CRIS system Provide basic training where required for new members of staff Assist the departmental Administrator / Secretary in support of the Clinical Scientist & Technical Service Manger administration support as required.
