Company Description ARISTOTLE ZHANG is an independent screen and theatre production studio dedicated to original storytelling by and for queer and transgender immigrants of color and/or with disabilities. Founded in New York City in 2025 by emerging writer-creator Vincent Jia, the studio focuses on scripted, character-driven comedic and dramatic narratives. The collective specializes in surreal genre media and intimate dramas that foster connection through shared human experiences. Aristotle Zhang has produced two episodic proof-of-concept shorts and is developing its first animated feature, offering emerging talent the opportunity to engage with innovative, inclusive projects.

Role Description The Development Intern will support early-stage project development by assisting with script coverage, story research, and tracking potential collaborators and talent. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing drafts, preparing summaries and feedback, and contributing ideas in creative development meetings. The intern will help with outreach for partnerships and festivals, organize materials for pitches, and support light administrative tasks related to screen and theatre productions. This is an internship role based in Toronto, ON, structured as a hybrid position with a mix of in-person collaboration and work-from-home flexibility.

Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Literary Analysis skills, with the ability to interpret scripts, identify narrative strengths and weaknesses, and summarize plots. Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills, including clear written coverage, concise email and phone communication, and respectful collaboration with development, creative, and production teams. Candidates should possess Technical Production skills to assist with pre-production, film & television shoots, and post-production as needed. Candidates should possess basic Sales-related skills, such as comfort with outreach, pitching project concepts, and supporting relationship-building with partners and festivals. Additional beneficial qualifications include interest in screen and theatre storytelling, familiarity with queer and trans cultural contexts, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment. Prior experience in media, film, theatre, or related creative fields, and proficiency with common production software (Final Draft, Adobe Suite, Google Suite) are considered assets.
