Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Strategic Buyer is responsible for supplier account management, commodity oversight, negotiations, and purchasing activities related thereto:

  • Purchasing and procurement activities for assigned commodity portfolio
  • Manage supplier accounts within assigned commodity and support vendor performance management activities
  • Support implementation and execution of Vendor Management framework, including supplier KPIs and scorecards
  • Negotiate and support cost reduction initiatives within existing supply base, including pricing agreements for repeat purchasing
  • Support onboarding of new suppliers and phase-out of underperforming vendors as directed
  • Identify new sources of supply with technical groups where supply is constrained or products are obsolete
  • Monitor commodity performance including lead times, cost, and availability, and support corrective actions
  • Perform day-to-day procurement activities as requested, including order issuance, follow-up and problem resolution
  • Collaborate with regional teams (NA/EU) to ensure alignment between HQ commodity strategy and local execution
  • Provide guidance and support to operational buyers and coordinators for supplier-related matters
  • Monitor assigned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and support reporting activities
  • Provide required information to the Procurement leadership concerning monthly highlights and performance
  • Conduct analysis and provide reports as required
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • 5–8 years of work experience in a Procurement / Supply Chain role
  • Experience managing suppliers or commodity portfolios considered an asset
  • Experience in the aerospace industry considered an asset
  • Demonstrated negotiation and cost reduction skills
  • Proficient in analytical skills and assessment
  • Knowledge of purchasing agreements or contractual concepts
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to act in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive, professional attitude and ability to take initiative
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills including high attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to perform all work in support of Corporate Values

 

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule for AOG coverage as required
  • Will be required to travel on ad-hoc basis 

Supervisory, Training and Advisory Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support to operational buyers and cross-functional stakeholders as required.

 

Occupational Health and Safety:

  • Working in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety acts and regulations 
  • Following safe work practices and procedures and using safeguards and personal protective equipment
  • Reporting hazards (such as unsafe situations and activities) to their supervisor immediately.

 

Security Clearance Requirements/ CGP / ITAR:

Position requires Level II clearance with the Canadian Government and the ability to gain access to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program
