About the role
SMS is looking for a Service Assistant to support Fort Hills site leadership by providing administrative coordination for service, warranty, logistics, and employee support activities. This role plays an important part in supporting site operations by ensuring documentation, work orders, and compliance requirements are completed accurately and efficiently.
Work Location: Fort Hills, AB.
Salary: $60,000 to $68,000 per annum.
Work Arrangement: Fixed on site
Schedule: 4x3 rotation. FIFO from Edmonton or Calgary (Monday morning departure, return Thursday evening).
What You'll Do:
- Support Fort Hills site leadership with day-to-day administrative and coordination activities.
- Coordinate service truck fleet logistics, including vendor support, asset movement, inspections, and site access requirements.
- Manage warranty core inventory, consolidation, and off-site shipping for trucks, shovels, and legacy equipment.
- Assist with onsite inventory management and parts transfers between site and warehouse locations.
- Review open work orders daily with supervision to support effective management of work in progress.
- Support warranty claims by compiling documentation and entering required information into systems.
- Assist with time entry administration, including follow-up on work order numbers, customer signatures, and issue resolution.
- Coordinate training activities and support certification and compliance tracking.
- Provide administrative support for employee needs, meetings, site events, and site-specific requirements.
- Manage onsite administrative assets, including IT devices and access-related items.
What You Bring:
The successful candidate brings logistics or administrative experience with a basic understanding of service operations and a high level of reliability in a site-based environment.
Other requirements include:
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume work environment.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with administrative systems and tools.
