About the role
The shipping and receiving clerk will work with the shipping and sales teams to coordinate produce shipments within Canada and to the US, as well as receive incoming supply shipments as necessary. This position is moderately active, including daily walking in and around the shipping yard. This position is fast-paced, and requires excellent problem-solving skills as well as a strong ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities. Training on shipping procedures will be provided to the successful candidate, however shipping experience is an asset.
Priority given to bilingual (Spanish and English) candidates.
Job duties include:
- Negotiate annual and ongoing pricing with trucking companies.
- Schedule and organize shipment pickups and deliveries.
- Ensure accuracy of pickups and deliveries, including quality of shipments and compliance with company policy and safety requirements.
- Track shipments to ensure successful and timely delivery, including ongoing ETA at origins and destinations.
- Resolve shipping logistics issues quickly and effectively, working with the sales team as needed to manage customer expectations and relationships.
- Coordinate effectively with warehouse staff in charge of loading and unloading shipments at our location.
- Act as main point of contact for trucking companies, customs brokers, and related organizations, and maintain courteous and professional working relationships.
- Complete, submit, and file all relevant paperwork, including bills of lading and customs documents.
- Maintain accurate internal shipping records and coordinate with sales, accounting, and other internal departments as needed on loads shipped.
- Other administrative duties as required.
Requirements:
- Priority given to bilingual (Spanish and English) candidates
- Must be comfortable with light physical activity and some outdoor work.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environments; excellent problem-solving skills; strong ability to multi-task.
- Experience with farming is an asset.
- Experience with shipping is an asset, in particular international shipping and shipping refrigerated produce.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00-4:00
