Reporting to the Manager of Public Health, the primary purpose of this position is to provide

administrative support for the staff of the public health, primary care, and ambulatory care/home care

program areas.

Qualifications

Graduation from high school supplemented by the successful completion of a two-year

Secretarial Science or Office Administration diploma;

Completion of an approved medical terminology course or willingness to complete within

timeframe designated by the employer;

Demonstrated experience and ability in word processing and other Microsoft software

(including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet and Email);

Experience working with people in a healthcare setting considered an asset; Ability to work independently; The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties (Include But Not Limited To)

Answers the telephone, files, prepares/sends/receives mail, photocopies, and sends/receives

faxes;

Monitors email and keeps up to date with public health, primary care, and ambulatory/home

care clerical work flow;

Manages the schedules of health care professionals working in public health, primary care,

and ambulatory/home care (including receiving referrals and booking/scheduling

appointments by corresponding with clients);

Utilizes the electronic medical record, Meditech, CRMS, and any other applicable software to

assist in client documentation;

Greets clients and manages the waiting area; Obtains/orders supplies through Materials Management; Other related duties as required; Travel may be required; May be required to work alone.
