About the role
As Claims Litigation Paralegal you will support the claims litigation function of the Legal Department. Responsibilities include reviewing legal appeals, preparing correspondence, conducting research and investigations, and communicating with law firms and other third parties
This is full-time reduced-hour position working a minimum of 25 hours per week.
Way of Working: This is a hybrid role working Monday-Friday, with 2 in-office days (Tuesdays and Thursdays) at our office in Cambridge, Ontario.
Candidates must be able to reliably commute to the Cambridge office on required in-office days and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
What You Will Do
Coordinate and manage the legal appeals process and communicate decisions to lawyers Participate in weekly Appeals Committee meetings Prepare legal correspondence including denial letters and Small Claims Court documents Liaise with law firms, clients, applicable internal departments and external third parties Appear in court on behalf of Allianz Partners Manage subrogation workload. Conduct claims investigations; prepare and track file summaries Research case law, general legal principles and other legal academic literature; provide key summaries for legal department Manage the tracking system for all lawsuits; monitor and provide updates on progress of all files Manage communications with collection agencies relating to outstanding invoices Prepare file copies and other written correspondence for the Operations and Legal department Perform other administrative tasks and ad hoc duties as needed Work effectively in an environment shaped by artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, data analytics, and cloud‑based tools, using insights responsibly and in alignment with our standards for data governance, security, and ethical use.
What You Will Bring
College Diploma/Degree in a Paralegal/Legal program 1 to 2 years’ experience in a legal role/function; legal academic placement experience will be considered Strong attention to detail with ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities Strong written and oral communication skills Ability to work independently and carry out assignments within the parameter of instructions given Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion Strong customer service skills, responsive and professional Aptitude for new technologies and knowledge of Excel Fluency in French is an asset
What We Offer
Annualized base pay range is $59,760 - $87,615 CAD
Actual base pay may vary based upon factors such as relevant experience, qualifications, internal equity of peers, and geographic location. Employees may also qualify for performance-based bonuses, merit increases, and other incentives based on individual and company performance. The availability and amount of these additional compensation elements are determined by company policy and may vary.
