About the role

The Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association of Canada (RVDA Canada) is a national, not-for-profit industry association that represents and supports recreational vehicle (RV) dealers across Canada. Its primary role is to advocate on behalf of dealers at the federal level, provide education and training programs to strengthen dealership operations and professionalism, promote ethical business standards, and offer resources, networking opportunities, and industry insights to help members grow and succeed. The association also works collaboratively with manufacturers, suppliers, and related organizations to advance the Canadian RV industry and enhance the overall consumer experience.

Position Overview

The President serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of RVDA Canada, providing executive leadership for the organization's strategic direction, operational excellence, and delivery of member value. This pivotal role oversees all day-to-day operations, spearheads stakeholder engagement, and champions initiatives that foster the growth, sustainability, and success of Canada’s RV retail industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Association Leadership & Strategy Translates and executes the strategic vision and direction set by the Board of Directors. Advises the Board on emerging industry trends, risks, and opportunities. Develops and recommends policies, programs, and initiatives that strengthen the association and its members. Ensures all activities align with Board-approved governance, policies, and strategic objectives.

Operations & Administration Drives operational excellence, efficiency, accountability, and professionalism across all day-to-day functions of the association. Provides comprehensive oversight of administrative, financial, and organizational functions. Prepares and manages the annual budget in close partnership with the Treasurer. Ensures robust financial stewardship, including meticulous oversight of accounting processes and signing authority responsibilities.

Board & Governance Support Serves as a non-voting Secretary to the Board and Executive Committee. Plans and coordinates Board and committee meetings, including the preparation of agendas and minutes. Champions and supports effective governance practices and active Board engagement.

Stakeholder, Media & Government Relations Acts as the primary official spokesperson for RVDA Canada. Cultivates and maintains strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including: Provincial RV dealer associations Manufacturer associations Campground associations Government and regulatory bodies Industry partners Monitors legislative and regulatory developments impacting the industry proactively and advocates on behalf of members.

Member Value & Industry Engagement Leads the strategic development and delivery of programs, services, and resources designed to enhance members’ business success. Identifies and secures diverse funding opportunities to sustain and grow the association. Oversees the comprehensive communications strategy, ensuring timely, compelling, and effective member engagement. Represents the association at industry events, conferences, and public forums.

People Leadership Recruits, leads, mentors, and develops all staff and external contractors. Fosters a collaborative, high-performing, and accountable team culture. Ensures clear direction, performance management, and professional development opportunities for the team.

Industry Engagement Actively participate in and foster collaboration with key industry organizations, including (but not limited to): Go RVing Canada, CCRVA, CRVA, RVDA of America, RVDA Education Foundation, RVEC, RVWA, RVIA Committees, and other relevant industry bodies.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Education & Professional Background Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Demonstrated experience in association management, non-profit leadership, or a related executive-level role is highly preferred. Proven leadership experience with operational and financial oversight responsibilities.

Core Competencies Exceptional strategic thinking and robust decision-making abilities. Strong leadership acumen and effective team management skills. Comprehensive financial literacy and adept budget management capabilities. Superior stakeholder engagement and relationship-building proficiency. Outstanding public speaking and communication excellence. Bilingual proficiency (French and English) in both written and oral communication is essential to effectively engage with members, stakeholders, and government partners across Canada. PREFERRED.

Communication Exceptional written and verbal communication skills (English and French), tailored for diverse audiences. Proven ability to engage effectively and persuasively with members, the Board, government officials, and industry leaders. Extensive experience in preparing comprehensive reports, impactful presentations, and compelling external communications.

Analytical & Financial Advanced ability to interpret complex financial statements and provide strategic insights. Strong analytical problem-solving and decisive decision-making skills. Comfort and proficiency in working with data, market trends, and key performance metrics.
