As an Operations Controller - Calgary Transit Access (CTA), you are responsible for the oversight and management of all CTA service, to ensure safe, efficient, reliable, and on-time operations for Calgarians with disabilities. This position manages day-to-day operations and are required to respond to and manage occurrences, delays, service interruptions, and emergencies in a safe and timely manner. Primary duties include:

  • Respond to operator questions and concerns in a timely manner, responding to operator via two-way radio, phone, or mobile data terminal (MDT).
  • Communicate with Passenger Agents on Teams or in person to manage customer concerns and other service issues.
  • Review and schedule same-day trip requests within the daily budget. Reschedule trips in response to errors made on the day of service.
  • Respond to and manage incidents including notifying emergency services, requesting Field Supervisors, coordinating replacement service, and notifying internal and external parties.
  • Notify caregivers of incidents and inform customers who may be affected by the resulting delays.
  • Document incidents, service interruptions, booking errors, and Operator concerns.

Qualifications

  • A completed High School diploma or equivalency (i.e., GED) with job related courses in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of related experience including 3 years in a computerized work environment with data entry, operation and service planning, and scheduling software.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Calgary's transportation options.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
  • Experience with Giro HOD (Hastus on Demand) is considered an asset.
  • Experience serving people with disabilities is considered an asset.
  • High level of customer service, strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and manage multiple tasks while maintaining your composure.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • A security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Pre-employment Drug Test: An offer of employment for this position will be conditional on an applicant passing a pre-employment drug test. This test assesses for use of drugs including cannabis. Failure to pass a pre-employment drug test may prevent an applicant from being hired into any safety sensitive position for a period of up to twelve months.
