The Department of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Communications and Board Coordinator with the Apprenticeship Manitoba branch. Apprenticeship Manitoba is responsible for the administration of the apprenticeship and certification system for the designated trades in Manitoba, which leads to the development of a skilled workforce to help meet the needs of Manitobans. The branch is seeking a member of the team to support the effective coordination of public and stakeholder communication, administration of the Apprenticeship and Certification Board (Board) and committees established by the Board, and planning initiatives and events.
Duties:
Reporting to the Manager of Policy, Legislation and Board Operations, this position plays a critical role in communicating with stakeholders on behalf of Apprenticeship Manitoba and the Board. They will collaborate with members of their unit and leaders across the branch, taking initiative to maintain efficient workflows and support a robust schedule of Board and committee meetings. The Communications and Board Coordinator will participate in strategic projects and initiatives as needed, and support engagements with the public and industry. The incumbent will also be responsible for coordinating two major industry and client events annually, and maintaining updated public-facing communications, including website content and correspondence.

Qualifications:
Essential:
-
Post -secondary degree or diploma in the Arts or public administration with a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience in board or stakeholder management, including coordination of meetings and industry feedback.

High level of political acumen and ability to exercise judgment.
-
Excellent administrative skills, with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
-
Excellent written communication skills to produce appropriate communication materials for a variety of audiences.
-
Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to express ideas in a clear, concise and organized manner.
-
Strong time management skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to prioritize, proactively plan and meet deadlines.

Experience supporting and coordinating multi-step initiatives and/or events.
-
Extensive experience with Microsoft Office tools and knowledge of database management
Desired:
- Knowledge of workforce development, skilled trades, or the apprenticeship and certification system.
